Here are a few ideas that I have in the pipeline. I’m always looking for partners in the wind ensemble world to help support new projects. TALES OF SCIENCE AND MAGIC

TALES OF SCIENCE AND MAGIC will be a Cinematic Suite, in the style of my earlier work THE TIME TRAVELER. Epic, ambitious, multi-movement, eventually around 20 minutes long. Based on my love of speculative fiction, and exploring its two great aspects – science fiction (our intellectual/logical side) and fantasy (our intuitive side). Movements in progress include SENSE OF WONDER, CITY OF LIGHT and NEXT. Projected to be a grade level 5 piece. Challenging, but not so difficult as to be inaccessible. I’m pointing for an exclusivity period of Sept 2024 – August 2025 for this one. Please see the dedicated page on this website for more details.

DAYS OF DISTANCE

DAYS OF DISTANCE is a mini horn concerto, consisting of two movements, probably about ten minutes long in total. The first movement will be lyrical in nature and the longer of the two, designed especially to take advantage of the beauty and nobility of the french horn. The second movement will be a scherzo/finale – fast, fun and full of great horn riffs, not to mention some challenging passages in the ensemble. The horn part will be virtuosic, while the ensemble parts will be a strong level 4, maybe a 4+. I’ve been workshopping this in my composer’s group for a while already and I have some early rehearsal audio that I can show to interested parties.
